Planview in Leaders Quadrant of Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Magic Quadrant

Austin, TX — August 18, 2011 — Planview®, an innovator in portfolio management for more than 20 years, is recognized in the Leaders Quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications, 2011 by Daniel Stang released on August 8, 2011.

Gartner positioned Planview in the Leaders Quadrant based on Planview's completeness of vision and ability to execute.

In its report, Gartner states that "There is just one IT portfolio -- with various, complex and often interdependent parts… Today's IT portfolio managers need to provide accurate, point-in-time information to help CIOs understand the inter-relationships and interdependencies required to truly orchestrate all the moving parts of IT in ways that can help the IT department support business objectives and goals."

The Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications Magic Quadrant is part of Gartner's new PPM Market Universe body of research. PPM has become an established standard for enhancing the performance of IT organizations by allowing them to optimize the planning and execution of strategic objectives in an inherently resource-constrained environment.

As economic conditions continue to apply resource pressure across the enterprise, portfolio management is increasingly being leveraged to drive the same benefits in other business functions. Along with Planview's placement as a leader in the Magic Quadrant, the company is evaluated in Gartner's MarketScope for Project and Portfolio Management Applications, June 13, 2011, also by Stang. In the report, Planview is given an overall market rating of "positive."1

In addition, Planview is included in the June 16, 2011 PPM Market Universe: PPM for New Product Development Market Roundup by Stang and Donna Fitzgerald.2 The company is also listed in the August 9, 2011 report PPM Market Universe: PPM for Professional Services Administration Market Roundup, 2011 by Stang and Matt Light.3

"At Planview, we have always been evangelists about the fundamental value of portfolio management across a broad range of business disciplines. It is an exciting time for our customers and the market as the discipline expands across the enterprise to encompass IT, product development, services and corporate finance," says Patrick Tickle, executive vice president of products at Planview. "We believe the Gartner PPM Market Universe is a significant affirmation of this trend and the establishment of PPM as a tier-one business application category."
