Planview's New Release Advances Value of Portfolio Management Across the Enterprise

New release of Planview Enterprise enables more effective planning and execution, extends leadership in analytics, and introduces new collaboration technologies

Austin, TX — February 23, 2011 — Planview® today announced the newest release of Planview Enterprise®. New features and enhancements further extend the value of this market-leading portfolio management (PPM) solution across the enterprise, helping decision makers in IT, Product Development, Finance, and services-focused organizations make better decisions and take faster action about their global investments and resources.

The News

Planview Enterprise 10.3 extends capabilities in operational planning and execution management, with a new analytics and reporting portal, integrated sustainability metrics, enhanced scenario planning, mobility features and more. User experience enhancements across the suite further improve ease of use and drive collaboration across people and platforms.

Planview Enterprise 10.3 will be available this quarter, and will be introduced to customers via virtual product expo. It can be deployed on-premise, or on demand via the SaaS version of this leading solution.

Analytics and Reporting

The Planview Enterprise Analytics and Reporting Portal: A unified analytics and reporting user experience for Planview Enterprise with embedded collaboration technology.

The Analytics and Reporting Portal gives Planview customers one integrated view to all the information in Planview Enterprise, creating a unified decision-making environment that encourages collaboration and decision making. An elegant user interface built on Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server eases sharing across all corporate SharePoint properties. Integration with Microsoft Office suite applications ensures users throughout the organization can quickly access information to enable action. And the embedding of Microsoft Office Communicator® enables real-time collaboration via video conferencing and chat for analysis of issues and trends. Easy to use and cost-effective, the portal is highly configurable and supports a self service analytics and reporting model.

Industry thought leaders recognize the value of technology that delivers what users need while leveraging social communications systems to deliver greater value of initiatives such as collaborative decision making.

Operational Planning

Embedded sustainability portfolio metrics: Extending the ability to measure the business value of portfolios with integrated sustainability metrics.

Planview continues to expand the dimensions by which customers can evaluate their portfolios. A recent survey from MIT Sloan Management Review1 shows that 69% of companies are increasing their investments in sustainability in 2011. Planview supports this growing need by integrating sustainability metrics into Planview Enterprise 10.3. These metrics are a selective blend of best practices from thought-leading organizations around the world, providing a critical new perspective by which companies can analyze and prioritize items for their portfolios.

Dynamic, real-time operational scenario planning: A powerful, interactive approach that enables planning scenarios to optimally balance resources and financials.

With Planview Enterprise 10.3, Planview continues its investment in its Operational Planning capabilities to help customers build more accurate and dynamic operating plans. Customers can examine and publish multiple scenarios for net present value, return on investment and internal return rate, to select the most favorable option. These enhancements support the iterative planning process in which most companies find themselves, automating an otherwise manual and labor-intensive process. This keeps the Operating Plan relevant and reflects changes in the business environment, the results of project execution, and other variables. Now, companies have a fast and easy way closing the gap between Finance, strategy and operations, and can easily run scenarios to judge the viability of responses to new and changed situations.

Enhanced road mapping capabilities: Interface enhancements give users more control over the road mapping functionality in Planview Enterprise Product Portfolio Management, with increased support for technology and product roadmaps, and configurability of views, statuses and product groupings.

Execution Management

Mobility for decision-makers: Planview Enterprise now supports mobile decision makers with the ability to approve, reject and delegate key milestones throughout the planning and execution process on mobile phones. This streamlines processes and minimizes work bottlenecks. mobility: Extending the reach of the Planview PRISMS® enablement line, the customer portal is being made mobile-ready, allowing users to access professional networking features, best practices and discussions from anywhere.

Planview Enterprise add-in for Microsoft® Project®: A redesigned, bidirectional add-in for Microsoft Project provides a user-friendly approach to extending the business rules of portfolio planning in Planview Enterprise to Microsoft Project.

Enhancements to change risk and issue management: Planview Enterprise 10.3 includes an improved process for the tracking and management of changes, risks and issues; user interface enhancements sponsor a higher ease of use.

Enhancements to workflow management: Improvements to the management and user interface of lifecycles across the entire Planview Enterprise 10.3 product line increases productivity with streamlined project steps and approvals.

Ideation Management

Planview Enterprise 10.3 includes updates to Planview Enterprise Ideation Management, with a new interface for improved ease of use, a chip system for higher voting effectiveness, and microblogging to support professional networking on ideas.
