Planview Ranked No. 1 in Current Offering for Business-Driven Project Portfolio Management and Named a PPM Market Leader by Independent Research Firm

Independent analyst report recognizes Planview as a leader in IT and business-driven portfolio management markets

Austin, TX — January, 7, 2010 — Planview®, a leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, today announced that it has been named a leader in the December 2009 "Forrester Wave™: Project Portfolio Management, Q4 2009," and received the highest score for current offering in business-driven project portfolio management (PPM). The independent report evaluated 14 PPM vendors across both IT and business scenarios in the categories of current product offering, strategy and overall market presence.

"Planview's visionary approach to PPM makes it the smart choice for those aiming to mature. Planview's strength in both core and advanced features made it the current offering leader. Aimed at the more mature organization, it's acquisition of Business Engine paid off with one of the most robust financial management offerings in the PPM space," according to Margo Visitacion, vice president at Forrester and the report's author. "Planview's ability to play simultaneously in the IT and business project management markets, and its strong reputation for excellent customer support makes it a strong bet for organizations looking to leverage technology to get to the next level of maturity and effectiveness."

According to the report, "portfolio management and planning is gaining adoption outside of IT… now, adopting standards and tools to better manage portfolio forecasting is expanding to business organizations, sometimes bypassing IT altogether."1 In the business-driven PPM scenario, Planview ranked the highest of 14 vendors in advanced portfolio management, advanced financial management, program management and corporate strategy. Additionally, the company received top scores in core functionality for IT PPM including evaluations for demand management, project management, resource management, usability and integration.

"Celebrating 20 years as an independent vendor singularly focused on portfolio management, Planview is proud to be recognized by Forrester as a leader in PPM market, further reflecting our strategic approach to solving business problems and creating opportunities for innovation," said Greg Gilmore, president and COO of Planview. "We will continue to focus on best equipping senior leaders in IT, product development, and across the enterprise, with the visibility and information they need to make better decisions and balance business strategy against their scarce resources -- people and money."

In 2009, Planview released Planview Enterprise® 10, the latest version of its market-leading portfolio management suite, as well as additions to its Planview OpenSuite™ integration line, which enables easy integration of Planview Enterprise across a broad range of IT and business management systems.
